Alcohol

Alcohol is a very dangerous substance that is used by millions of people worldwide. Alcohol can be made two ways, one being fermentation and ethylene hydration. Fermentation is the oldest way for humans to produce ethanol, and this is the traditional way of making alcoholic beverages, while ethylene hydration makes ethanol known as synthetic ethanol.

Alcohol is water soluble, which means it enters the blood stream readily, there to be carried quickly to all parts of the body. It is also fat soluble so it can pass through various cell membranes in the body. A certain portion of the ethanol you drink passes through your stomach to your small intestine, is absorbed into your bloodstream and carried to your brain. Too much alcohol can have many problems. Overdoses can range in severity, from problems with balance and slurred speech to coma or even death.

Drinking large quantities of alcohol can overwhelm the body’s ability to break down and clear alcohol from the bloodstream. This leads to rapid increases in blood alcohol content and significantly impairs brain function. Continuing to drink despite clear signs of significant impairments can result in alcohol poisoning.Alcohol poisoning occurs when there is so much alcohol in the bloodstream that areas of the brain controlling basic life support functions to shut down. There is a probability of death.
